Meet Todd

Below Knee Amputee

Like many amputees, Todd was faced with amputation with very little notice. Although optimistic, he wasn’t sure if he would be able to get back to doing the things he truly enjoyed.

“Running was part of my life,” says Todd. “It was my stress release to go down the country road and listen to the sounds early in the morning, the coyote, and see the same five or six cars, and just enjoying hearing the pound of the pavement. I wanted the same experience that I had when I had two sound legs.”

“There are so many options out there. For me, the decision from a prosthetic perspective was gonna be how close to normal can I get with the technology that’s available and practitioners that are out there.”

Todd began his search for that quality of service, talented practitioner, and invested prosthetic facility. His path led him to Fourroux Prosthetics.

“That’s the great thing about Fourroux,” says Todd. “Not only do they build a prosthesis for you, but they also educate you and actually work with you.”

“I can’t speak to how it was 20 years ago, but now, prosthetics are based on the type of work you do, the type of activity, and the type of hobbies and interests you have. That’s the beauty of it. It’s tailored to the individual! It’s a true collaborative process. That’s part of Fourroux putting the patient first.”

It’s more than just getting an artificial limb back – it’s about getting you back where you need to be. And Fourroux was determined to get Todd back to doing the things he loved to do.

“I’ve been able to essentially do everything that I did before, except probably not run quite as far or quite as fast.’ Todd explains. “But I am running again, which is a blessing.”
