Meet LisaAbove Knee Amputee — 12+ years
Interview with Lisa:Q: Tell those that don’t know you a little bit about yourself... Lisa: “I’m a registered nurse at a local Hospital and have worked in the Neurological Intensive Care Unit for almost seven years. I don’t know, I guess I’d like to call myself outgoing and I like to be around people.” Q: How long have you been an amputee? Lisa: “When I was seventeen (about 12 years ago) I was in a single car accident, a really bad accident where the vehicle I was driving flipped over and pinned me underneath it. I had several breaks in my leg and they just weren’t able to save it.” Q: How did you come upon Fourroux? Lisa: “I had seen a commercial one day and just picked up the phone and called.” Q: Being in the medical field, did you know you had a choice in choosing your prosthetic facility? Lisa: “Honestly, I guess I really didn’t know. I had never really thought of it much, and I guess I just went where I was directed until I got to a point where I just was so unsatisfied that I had to do something.” Q: Tell us some of the differences between the last place you were going and your experiences at Fourroux... Lisa: “The whole process was different
for me?” Q: Tell us about the changes that you’ve noticed with your new prosthesis... Lisa: “Wow. I told someone just this the other day, that I don’t believe I could go back and wear the same type of prosthesis that I was wearing before. There’s just so much more comfort. I feel more secure.” Q: Do you find that you’re walking differently? Lisa: “Absolutely. I
can definitely tell the difference.” Q: How about the people you’ve encountered at Fourroux. What can you tell me about them? Lisa: “They’re absolutely
awesome! It’s
so much more personal” Q: If you were talking to somebody who was maybe in a position where they were going somewhere and they weren’t too happy, what would you say to them? Lisa: “Honestly, I was approached with this situation just recently. Being an outgoing person in the medical field, I approached a woman whom I knew had a prosthesis and could see that she was having troubles. I absolutely , 100 percent knew that she could see a difference at Fourroux. I approached her and told her, there is a CHOICE and that you do have a CHOICE in where you can go for better care.” Q: Any regrets? Lisa: “I wish I would have known
sooner.” Q: What is your relationship like with Fourroux? Lisa: “I can’t imagine going anywhere else…” Lisa: I’m grateful that I am a member of Fourroux now! Lisa has been a wonderful support person for the many amputees that she has met. She continues to do very well in her career, as well as with her family and we appreciate the opportunity to provide her prosthetic care. Fourroux is glad to have her as an extension of our Fourroux Family. Thank you Lisa! Also Meet:Roger [ top ] |
